Reading for Recovery
I was in a car accident in 2019 that resulted in multiple injuries and surgeries. Included in this was a brain injury and brain damage that gave me trouble with word finding and memory loss. I also had post trauma vision syndrome, which made it very difficult to read.
But I took my recovery seriously, I saw all the specialists I could, I devoted myself to my therapies and I took my power back by turning to one of my loves that had been ripped away from me – books. I began an Instagram page that allowed one to follow my journey, one book at a time. In a way, stories gave me the hope I craved during dark times.
And then, someone suggested I write a book. Thankfully, they remembered a conversation from the very distant past about my hopes and dreams of being an author. Reading for Recovery became Writing for Recovery, sending me down a path of redemption and joy, igniting a passion that laid dormant in my heart for too long.
