15 years. I have wanted to write about her for 15 years. Everyone knows her name from so long ago, but I wanted to show the complex side of her. The haunted side of her. In a way she has never been portrayed before. Finally, a nightmare made everything clear, and she is has now come to life on the page.
POWDER & POISON is a historical thriller with horror elements and a paranormal bent, in the vein of HOUSE OF HOLLOW x BRIDGERTON.
Marie Antoinette dreams of the decadent world that awaits her in France—a life of grandeur, being adored by an entire nation, and falling in love with her future husband and soon-to-be king, Louis. Though stripped of her identity and all she knew from her life in Austria, Marie still carries the ominous warnings her missing sister left her, and an eerie voice that sings dark riddles to her from reflections.
Versailles draws her in with its glittering façade upon her arrival, but she quickly finds herself drowning in the suffocating rules of court, the diseases running rampant in the palace, and the people of Paris mocking her. Overwhelmed, Marie distracts herself with a budding friendship with a chambermaid, Genevieve. She also attempts to impress Louis, despite his constant hunting trips and experiments on corpses. Her fear of the omens comes to light on her wedding night as she stumbles on a body, throat slit in the gardens. In a place where such things are to be covered up and swallowed down, Marie realizes how utterly alone and scared she is.
Her terror intensifies when she learns that the halls of Versailles are truly haunted with the souls of poisoned women, the diseased, and the butchered. As a killer runs loose through the palace and desperate spirits chase after her, Marie turns to Etienne, a boy that is everything Louis is not, and who worships her even when the rest of the country spits in her face.
As the bodies continue to pile up, Marie must face the ghosts and her inner demons to stop the killer before anyone else’s throat meets the blade of a knife—including hers.
Waking can be the worst moment of all—when your escape from the darkness of light into the darkness of night is ruined by the damn sun rising. When reality strikes its hardest blow.

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA meets ONE OF US IS LYING, WAKING WILLOW is a YA sapphic contemporary fantasy steeped in Celtic lore, witchcraft, and mystery told from two POVs.
As a seventeen-year-old Celtic witch, Jena knows better than to seek vengeance. Her father and grandmother taught her to use magic responsibly— and sparingly— as it causes Jena horrendous pain, but pain is a small price to pay to avenge their murders. And it was murder. Whoever drove that sparkly white SUV left her loved ones to die in the street, and all evidence points to the new girl in town, Willow, who is clearly hiding something.
Willow hasn’t been the same since her own Mama’s mysterious death. While keeping the rest of her family afloat— particularly her overbearing brother, Killian— she finds stories written by Mama that hint at a secret family lineage full of magic. Though desperate to learn more about Mama and the strange Victorian home she left behind, Willow soon becomes distracted by Jena’s beautiful best friend, Violet.
All of their lives are thrown into chaos, however, when Willow herself is murdered. Though she wakes from her death sleep buried deep in the Whispering Woods, she has no choice but to seek Jena for answers, and together, the two discover Willow is a Triskele Witch with strange and ancient power. Worse still, the witch hunter who killed Jena’s family is now after them both— and Killian and Violet.
Another figure appears. A dark silhouette standing before the grave. Their hands move down and up, then off to the side. A conductor for an orchestra that isn’t there. Playing a symphony of death.
